We believe that architecture is an affordable service that every homeowner should be able to use to recognise the potential of the property and a guide through the complexity of the approvals system. 

 

Using an architect turns an active enquiring mind onto difficult design or statutory requirements and also smooths the past through approvals and selection of builders. The cost of this input is small in relation to the benefit to the overall building and a potential saving in time.

 

What does it cost?

The cost of architectural services varies with the complexity of the design, the number of drawings required to fully describe it and the extent of the planning and structural explanation which may be required. Dickie Architects sets out fees in a series of stages so that clients know what we do and we know how and when to charge; we use a "lump sum" rather than a percentage of the building cost. 

 

So whether you want a design concept, documentation for planning, full working drawings or "full service" right through to building completion you know what is going on and what you are paying for. 

Maybe it is just red tape
We are fully familiar with the design Codes prevailing in Western Australia and can assist with your application, especially if you are doing it 'owner-builder'. There is a lot that can be done as of right but if you want to go outside the parameters you need justification. We can help you to supply that in a form that the local authority will accept and which will assist you to ensure that you can build what you want.
