Sketches

Eyes tuned to read architectural drawings are an accurate instrument for transferring what is seen onto paper. The additional discipline of watercolour painting requires analysis and forethought; and the ability to know when to stop painting.

Malacca Diaries

I visited the historic City of Malacca on Malaysia’s west coast in early 2001 to draw some of the vanishing shophouses known from previous visits.

African Sketchbook

Two months travelling from Cape Town to Nairobi with no timetable resulted in a range of drawings from places that caught my eye, in particular the old City of Zanzibar.

India Notes

Images from a brief voyage across the subcontinent from Bombay to Madras.

Italian Holiday

A long ago solo bicycle tour across northern Italy during student years resulted in a lifelong fascination with classical design.

Asian Favourites

Places visited during travels and others well known from extended residence in South-East Asia.
