Glass Gable House

A small site on a laneway corner means that the garage does not dominate the facade. Instead a glass and ply clad corridor faces west and will be screened with maple trees, allowing in the winter sun. The house sits hard on the south boundary and is laid out to collect rainwater and use well-insulated ply clad walls above a brick base. The streetfront gable is a requirement of the developer's guidelines.

This house has now become Dickie Architects office as well as my home. The additional space provided by the steep pitch roof gives ample space for work, library and meetings.
